Skill That Holds Up Under Pressure
Athlete Development & Pathways
Pathways can be confusing — domestic, association, state, national, school, college, overseas tours, and more.
Sports Management Collective offers informed, grounded guidance drawn from Ben’s experience across:
Managing a large association with 3,000+ members and extensive representative programs
Serving as National Team Manager for the Australian U15 Men
10+ years involvement in Basketball Victoria’s State Teams as coach and manager including a gold medal in 2025
Our goal is simple: help athletes and families understand the landscape, make good decisions and plan for the long term.
Pathway Planning
No two athlete journeys look the same — but they all benefit from structure.
We work with athletes and families to:
Map current competitive level, strengths and areas for development
Understand relevant club, association, state and national pathways
Align competition schedules and programs with future goals (e.g., state selection, college interest, senior transition)
Build multi-season development plans, not just “this year” thinking
Integrate education and life considerations alongside performance goals
This planning is informed by years of seeing what actually helps athletes progress — and what burns them out.
Performance Video Reviews
Video is one of the most powerful tools an athlete can use — if it’s structured and interpreted well.
Drawing on state and national team experience, we provide:
Detailed breakdowns of decision-making, spacing and game reads
Feedback on how an athlete’s role fits into team concepts
Identification of habits that help or hurt performance at higher levels
Practical training priorities based on what the footage actually shows
Reviews are collaborative. Athletes aren’t just “told” — they’re coached to see the game differently.
Highlight Tapes
Highlight tapes are often an athlete’s first impression with coaches, selectors or recruiters. They need to be clear, honest and aligned with what performance staff look for.
We support athletes by:
Selecting clips that genuinely reflect role, impact and translatable strengths
Structuring highlights to tell a cohesive performance story
Tailoring edits for specific audiences (e.g., rep coaches, state selectors, overseas programs)
Ensuring footage supports — rather than overpromises — the athlete’s profile
This service is informed by seeing how coaches and selectors at state and national levels actually review athletes.
